Ads of the Week

Poppi, Hims, AG1, Atria

Poppi

Analysis:

Even a brand that sold for $2B uses reappraisal marketingtaking something people feel guilty about (soda) and flipping the script into a “feel good” choice—to sell their products. It’s a suuuuuper powerful tool, especially if your product is an alternative of some kind (i.e. healthy soda).

Relieving tension by offering a fun, healthy drink, Poppi’s able to reinforce its wellness angle while staying light and friendly with a poppi(ng) design. Lol, see what I did there?

How you can apply it:

  1. Flip the guilt. Turn a “bad” behavior into something people can feel proud of.

  2. Use emotion-first visuals, color, and design should reflect the feeling you want to create (brighter colors = upbeat, darker = serious).

  3. Address the internal conflict your customer has—then solve it.

  4. Keep messaging positive and simple (think “feel good” over “clinically effective”). No one really cares if it’s “clinically effective”, they just wanna not feel like💩.

  5. Make it feel fun. Ditch the doctor's tone, sound like a human having a conversation.

Prompt:

Goal: Make gut-friendly soda look fun and Gen Z-friendly

Headline: “Feel good about your soda.”

Visuals: Bright pink/orange background, centered watermelon can, fun gut health icons, bold font

CTA: “Shop now”

Vibe: Playful, bold, full of personality

Key Takeaway: Let the color do the heavy lifting—simpler is better

Hims

Analysis:

I’ll be honest, I showed my dad this Hims ad and he instantly said, “Damn, wish I saw that before it was too late for me.” Which a perfect segway into what this ad is built on…

Loss aversiona psychological principle that says people are more motivated to avoid loss than to gain something new. The line “The earlier you start, the more hair you keep” is a motivator to buy because you’re already on the verge of losing something valuable (your luscious locks).

Exactly what you want when addressing personal, potentially sensitive topics like hair loss.

Sorry pops!

How you can apply it:

  1. Frame your offer around what people might lose if they don’t act now.

  2. Use clear, benefit-driven copy that feels helpful, not pushy.

  3. Reinforce trust with credentials (e.g., expert-backed, science-based, trusted by [x]).

  4. Use a minimal, calm design to reduce people getting lost in the ad.

  5. Make your CTA solution-oriented (like “grow your hair back now”) to nudge action.

Prompt:

Goal: Promote hair loss treatments in a clean, no-shame way

Headline: “The earlier you start, the more hair you keep.”

Visuals: Light beige background, centered products (finasteride + minoxidil), minimal type, shadow of a guy’s profile

CTA: “Start now”

Vibe: Calm, informative, science-backed

Key Takeaway: Keep it simple, trustworthy, and stigma-free

AG1

Analysis:

This AG1 ad THRIVES on its cognitive fluency component—a fancy way of saying “make it feel easy.” The phrase “75 vitamins. 1 scoop. Daily upgrade.” delivers a ton of value in just six words, making AG1 feel effortless (because it is tbh).

It simplifies a complex benefit (foundational nutrition) into a micro-habit you can perform daily without friction, lowering the mental barrier to entry. It makes you feel like improving your health is as simple as scooping powder.

(Lowkey might have just convinced myself to buy AG1 while writing this)

How you can apply it:

  1. Turn complex benefits into simple routines (e.g., “1 scoop a day”).

  2. Use numbers + rhythm in copy to make your message easy to remember.

  3. Organize benefits with icons to boost instant understanding.

  4. Design around a single-color theme to keep things focused.

  5. Position your product as a small change with big returns, an easy “upgrade.”

Prompt:

Goal: Position AG1 as an essential daily health habit

Headline: “75 vitamins. 1 scoop. Daily upgrade.”

Visuals: Deep green background, AG1 pouch + shaker + scoop, health icons (gut, immunity, energy)

CTA: “Try AG1”

Vibe: Premium wellness, clean, aspirational

Key Takeaway: Keep it visual, keep it simple, let the product speak

Atria

Analysis:

Simple scales, complex fails. This Atria ad (yay us) uses specificity + speed biasthe tendency to speed up decision-making into a short time frame to deliver results faster. “Ship 10x more winning ads” is a speed-backed headline that’s clear, measurable, and immediately outcome-focused.

People are more motivated when the path to success feels fast and achievable. The supporting copy focuses on benefits (revenue, speed, creative support) with zero fluff.

And the CTA (“Start 7-day free trial”) gives people a risk-free reason to get started. “Trusted by 5000+ teams” layers in social proof, reducing risk and boosting credibility to get more brands to sign up.

How you can apply it:

  1. Lead with a bold, specific outcome, don’t say “do better,” say how much better.

  2. Appeal to speed + ease, people want results now, not later (we hate delaying gratification).

  3. Use visual contrast for CTAs so they pop and pull clicks.

  4. Add social proof (ratings, customer count, logos) to boost trust & credibility.

  5. Write benefit-first body copy—skip features unless they tie directly to a win.

Prompt:

Goal: Position Atria as the go-to AI ad platform

Headline: “Ship 10x more winning ads.”

Visuals: Orange and black gradient background

CTA: “Start 7-day free trial”

Vibe: Clean, simple, and visually appealing

Key Takeaway: Keep it simple, use trust, and let the 5-star reviews shine
